“The terrorist attack in Pahalgam has deeply shocked the whole nation and the world. The death of two visitors from Odisha makes this tragedy even more personal for our state,” stated Shri Kadam in his letters. “In this grave moment, we urge that a special session of the Legislative Assembly be convened at the earliest.”
Shri Kadam emphasized that the proposed special session would serve as a platform for all members of the Assembly to express their heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families. He further stressed the importance of showcasing a unified stance against terrorism, transcending political divides.
“This special session will allow all members to express their condolences, stand in unity with the victims and their families, and also demonstrate that our fight against terrorism knows no political divisions,” Shri Kadam asserted.
The Congress MLA has appealed to both the Governor and the Chief Minister for the immediate consideration of his proposal, highlighting the urgent need for solidarity and action in the face of such heinous acts.
Congress Legislative Party leader Rama Chandra Kadam has also formally requested the Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly to convene a special session to discuss the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Shri Kadam, in his appeal, stressed the gravity of the situation and the need for the Odisha Legislative Assembly to deliberate on the implications of the attack, express solidarity with the victims, and discuss measures to ensure the safety of citizens.
He stated that the issue is of national importance and deserves a thorough discussion within the state legislative framework.
“The Pahalgam terror attack is a matter of grave concern, and it is crucial that the Odisha Assembly discusses this issue,” Shri Kadam said. “We need to show our solidarity and also discuss the implications.”
The Speaker’s office has acknowledged the request, and a decision on convening a special session is pending. The opposition Congress party is expected to press for an early decision, given the urgency of the matter.
