More Royalty From Minerals

Bhubaneswar : The State government has collected royalty worth Rs 2365.63 crore from export of minerals like chromites, iron ore and ilmenite during the financial year 2022-23 to 2024-25 (till January).

According to official data, the State has collected a total royalty of Rs 329.21 crore during the financial year 2022-23, which was increased to Rs 1134.85 crore in the financial year of 2023-24.

During the current fiscal year, the State has earned a total royalty of Rs 901.57 crore till the end of January, 2025.

During 2022-23, the State exported 66.46 lakh metric ton of minerals like Chromites, Garnet, Ilmenite, iron ore, Monazite and Pyrophyllite during the financial year 2022-23 and earned revenue worth Rs 325.77 crore. It has also exported decorative stone and received Rs 3.43 crore royalty.

Similarly, a total of 210.17 lakh MT of minerals exported from the State in the year 2023-24 and the government collected royalty of Rs 1121.51 crore. In addition to this, the government has earned Rs 13.33 crore from the export of decorative stone to foreign countries.

In this year, the State has so far exported 148.57 lakh MT minerals to other countries and got revenue worth Rs 897.51 crore. The State has earned Rs 4.05 crore from export of decorative stone till January end, the sources said.

As per the data, the State got the highest amount of revenue from the export of iron ores. A large quantity of iron ore is being exported from the State to foreign countries each year.

The State has exported 64.44 lakh MT iron ore during 2022-23 and earned Rs 308.32 crore while it was increased to 207.81 lakh MT in the next fiscal (2023-24) and the revenue collection was also enhanced to Rs 1095.38 crore.

Till January end of this fiscal, a total of 146.52 lakh MT iron ore exported from the State and the government collected royalty of Rs 884.46 crore.

Similarly, the State Government has collected revenue worth Rs 530.59 crore from auction of coal mines during the three years period. While revenue worth Rs 42.03 crore collected during the financial year 2022-23, Rs 60.20 crore collected during the next financial year and Rs 428.35 crore received during the current financial year (till January end).

Out of the total revenue collected from the coal mines auction, the State earned Rs 154.68 crore as royalty, Rs 41.22 crore as upfront payment, Rs 333.35 crore from Final Offer Price and Rs 1.33 crore from other heads.
