Guv Urges On Resources Conserve

Bhubaneswar: Sustainability and efficiency are no longer just aspirations but necessities for industrial progress, said Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati while addressing the 2nd National Thermal Spray Conference (NTSC-2025) at CSIR-IMMT auditorium here on Friday.

The conference, jointly organized by CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, and the Indian Thermal Spray Association (ITSA), brought together experts from academia, industry, and research institutions from India and abroad.

Congratulating the organizers, the Governor emphasized the growing significance of thermal spray technology across multiple sectors, including aerospace, automotive, healthcare, and energy. “By enhancing durability, performance, and sustainability, thermal spray coatings play a crucial role in reducing waste, conserving resources, and improving industrial efficiency,” he noted.

Highlighting Odisha’s potential, Dr. Kambhampati said the state, with its rich mineral resources and strong industrial base, stands to benefit significantly from advancements in thermal spray technology. He pointed out that industries such as steel, aluminum, and manufacturing could greatly enhance productivity and sustainability by adopting innovative coating solutions.

Expressing confidence in the conference’s impact, the Governor stated that NTSC-2025 would provide valuable insights into emerging research, trends, and applications. “This platform fosters knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and innovation. Discussions on advanced coating materials, novel spray techniques, and sustainability will pave the way for future technological adoption and industry partnerships,” he said.

The event also coincided with a milestone for CSIR-IMMT, which is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee this year. Lauding the institution’s contributions to material science, metallurgy, and mineral processing over six decades, Dr. Kambhampati said its legacy aligns perfectly with the conference’s objectives of fostering innovation and industrial transformation.

Encouraging participants to engage actively, he stressed that the knowledge exchanged at the conference would not only drive scientific advancements but also lead to practical applications that benefit industries and society at large.

Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Science and Technology, Krushna Chandra Patra, attended the event as the guest of honour, further underscoring the significance of NTSC-2025 in shaping the future of thermal spray technology and its industrial applications.
