Bhubaneswar: External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar has all praise for Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his Team for successfully hosting the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here from January 8 to 10.
Shri Jaishankar has written a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.
“I write to you to convey my sincere appreciation to the State Government of Odisha for the successful organisation of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas at Bhubaneswar in Odisha from January 8-10, 2025,” the EAM said.
The meticulous planning as well as the impeccable execution of all details pertaining to organisation of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas by the State Government of Odisha was indeed commendable and praiseworthy, he said.
Shri Jaishankar also pointed out that the Indian Diaspora members who participated in the 18th PBD 2025 gave a very positive feedback of the hospitality extended by the State Government as also the care and assistance extended to them during their stay in the State.
The Union Minister expressed his gratitude to Majhi and his Cabinet colleagues for making the just concluded 18th PBD in Odisha a resounding success.
Encouraged with the successful hosting of the PBD, Mr Jaishankar also informed that his Ministry looks forward to partnering with Odisha for organising similar events in the future.
Notably, the flagship event was organised for the first time in Odisha. The PBD convention kicked off with the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on January 8.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the mega international event on the second day while it culminated with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awards ceremony on the third day, which was graced by President Droupadi Murmu.
Over 3,500 Pravasi Bharatiyas have participated in the event. Several plenary sessions and cultural programmes were organised by both the State government and Centre during the three days.
The entire capital city Bhubaneswar was decked up with traditional Odisha wall paintings while roadsides and public areas have been meticulously cleaned and beautified. Both sides of the major roads in the capital city have been decked up with colourful lights. Every individual who attended the event had all praise for the hospitality offered by the State to the guests.
