Bhubaneswar: Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) is going to double the capacity of its Angul unit to 12 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by the end of this year, JSP Chairman Naveen Jindal said here today.
Speaking to media persons here on the side-line of Make in Odisha Conclave, Shri Jindal said JSP has already invested Rs 1 lakh crore in Angul steel plant in the State. The capacity of the plant would be doubled to 12 MTPA by the end of this year, he said.
Shri Jindal said he has plans to make Angul plant as the world’s largest single-location steel manufacturing facility by enhancing its capacity to 25 MTPA in another six year. For this, the company would invest Rs 70, 000 crore in next 6 years, he announced.
JSP also has the plan to produce green steel from the plan by adopting green technology and hydrogen, the top industrialist said.
He further informed that, “Our Chief Minister wants to set up a steel plant in mineral rich Keonjhar district. We will try to set up a steel plant in the district. We will study what we can do in the district.”
“Double engine government will work tremendously for the state and its people and I hope a lot of developmental work will be done in the State in the next five years,” he said.
The JSP Chairman told the investors who participated in the event that today Odisha has an inductive environment for the investors and they can invest in the State by choosing the proper sector. The state administration is very helpful, he added.
