Bhubaneswar: BJP and Congress, the two major political parties of the State, are going to get their new state presidents soon. There are reports that the leadership of the two parties giving more importance to young faces to lead the party in the State.

Along with this, the parties are also considering the leaders who have more influence in the parliamentary constituency.

The state BJP is currently in the process of appointing a new President. Along with two former presidents, there are MPs, MLAs and some other senior leaders of the party in the race. However, the party is giving maximum importance to young faces.

According to information received from reliable sources, the party wants to appoint a leader who has a strong hold in the parliamentary constituency for the post of State President.

While the party is giving importance to young leadership from an organizational point of view with the upcoming Panchayat and Municipal elections, a group of the party is lobbying in favor of experienced but old leaders.

Similarly, there is a consensus within the party to give the responsibility of the president to a leader who played an important role in bringing the party to power during the last election.

Similarly, the State Congress, which has been without a leader for a long time, is also going to appoint its State president soon. The Congress party is too considering giving the State leadership of the Congress to a young face.

However, since many senior leaders are staying away from the presidential race on their own, it is more likely that a young face will be given priority this time during the election of the president, party insiders said.

However, like the BJP, there is a discussion going on in the Congress that the high command is considering appointing a leader who has influence in the parliamentary constituency to the post of president.

According to sources the alone MP and some MLAs are in the race. However, since the party is in third place with 14 MLAs this time and to increase the party’s strength in the State, there is a speculation within the party to appoint an experienced and capable leader as the President.

The two major parties in the State are likely to get their new state Presidents by the end of this month and would start putting the houses in order.

Meanwhile, the BJP is finalizing the election of its district-level workers, while the main opposition BJD is running a member-gathering campaign.

In such a situation, it is being watched to see how much strength the new party president will give to the lagging Congress, while the party and the people of the state are also waiting to see how the new BJP president will guide both the party and the government.
