Bhubaneswar: On recommendation of Dr.Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts at least 55 handicrafts were granted approval by Government of Odisha in the Department of Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department
This was approved by Minister of Cooperation, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Pradip Bal Samanta. Earlier 51 handicrafts were approved under Handicrafts Sector. Now, this has been revised and recently 55 been included in the approved list of recognized handicrafts of the State Government.
The revised list of approved handicrafts under the Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department are Applique, Artistic Leather Works, Artistic Mat, Artistic Wooden Works, Bamboo Craft, Batik Printing, Betel-nut Craft, Brass and Bell Metal, Cane Craft, Clay Toys, Cloth Flower, Cloth Patchworks, Cloth Toys, Coconut Shell, Coir Craft, Dhokra Casting.
And Embroidery, Golden Grass, Gopa Craft, Handmade Carpet, Handmade Jewellery, Horn works, Jaikhadi works, Jute Craft, Keora Leaf Product, Lacquer Craft, Natural Fiber Crafts (Nalia Grass, Sisal Fiber, Hensuati), Paddy Craft, Painting of Dongaria Kandha, Painting of Gond, Painting of Juang, Painting of Kolha, Painting of Kutia Kandha.
Also Painting of Lanjia & Saura, Painting of Oraon, Painting of Santal, Painting of Saura, Palm leaf Decorative, Palm leaf Engraving, Paper Mache, Pattachitra, Root Craft, Sabai Grass Craft, Sea Shell Works, Silver Filigree, Solapith, Stone Carving, Straw Craft, Terracotta & Pottery, Theatrical Dress, Tribal Jewellery, Tumba Craft, Wood Carving, Wooden painted Toys and Wrought Iron Craft.
State Government for the holistic development of these approved crafts and necessary socio-economic support would be provided to the artisans engaged in these crafts under prevailing regulations and guidelines in vogue.
