Cabinet Clears MKY

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to increase milk production, the State Cabinet today approved the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana (MKY) to provide subsidy to the milk farmers.

The Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved six proposals including the new State sector umbrella scheme Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana (MKY), Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallick said.

 The scheme will be implemented in the State for five years from the financial year 2024-25 to 2028-29 with a budgetary outlay of Rs 1423.47 crore. This move will benefit 15,47,837 farmers in five years, thereby increasing their income, he said.

The Chief Minister had announced the new scheme in his first budget speech presented in August.

As per the cabinet decision, Rs 476 crore will be utilized in the five years under Go-Palan Yojana while Rs 216.09 crore will be utilized under Calf Rearing Scheme.

Similarly, Rs 200.68 has been earmarked for feed and fodder production and strengthening of fodder farms, Rs 187.42 crore for Go Sampad Bima Yojana, Rs 110.23 crore for Buffalo Entrepreneurship Development, Rs 116.43 crore to provide incentive dairy farmers, Rs 41.10 crore for strengthening of dairy organisations and Rs 25.52 crore support for Omfed.

 The Cabinet has taken the decision for construction of 550 residential quarters (200 of D type and 350 E type) with Community Hall and Play Ground for Staff of Orissa High Court, Cuttack at Sector-13, CDA in 10 acres of land on turnkey basis, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said.

The Cabinet has also approved the tender of Rs 220.40 crore for the project, which is targeted for completion within a time span of 30 months, he said.   

Further, the Cabinet has decided to enhance the pay of Advocate General (AG) and amendment of the Odisha Superior Judicial Service and Odisha Judicial Service Rules, 2007 to make the rules more meaningful and to strengthen the legal accumbency, administrative capability and to enlighten the Judicial Officers regarding Court Management.

The Cabinet has also decided to renew the license of private dealers of fair price shops, who are distributing rations to the beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act and State Food Security Scheme.

Since, the amendment order is valid till 30th September, 2024 and it is difficult due to administrative inconvenience and possible disruption of public distribution system in evicting all private dealers at once, the place of private dealers has been extended to March 31, 2026.
