Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Jual Oram’s wife Jhingia Oram died of dengue during treatment at a private hospital here last night.
Jhingia Oram (58) is survived by her husband and two daughters. She died at about 10.50 PM on Saturday night, said Jual Oram.
The Union Tribal Affairs Minister himself is also down with dengue and undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
“At around 10:50 pm, my wife breathed her last. She had lung fibrosis and was also undergoing treatment for dengue. Her platelet count had dropped to 60,000 and she fell unconscious. She also vomited blood and then passed away,” Shri Oram told media persons.
“My wife was shouldering a big responsibility and she was looking after my entire family, for which I was able to discharge my political career. Now I am unable to see my future without her,” he said.
The Union Minister also wished to get Jhingia as his life partner in re-births.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed grief over the passing away of Jhingia Oram. He visited the hospital late last night.
“There was no irregularity in her treatment. It is an inseparable loss for Jual Oram’s family. We have come here to express our condolences,” Shri Majhi said.
Speaker, Surama Padhy, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling and other BJP leaders also paid their last respects to Jhingia Oram late last night.
Shri Majhi said Jhingia was a pious, soft-spoken person, who involved herself in social and charitable works. “Jhinga Oram played an important role in Jual’s long political journey,” the CM said.
Jual was married to Jhingia on March 8, 1987.
Her funeral will be held at their village in Sundargarh district, family sources said.
