SJTA Action Against Officials

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today insisted legal action against the unauthorised persons found on the chariots during the Puri car festival on July 7 and 8 last.

Special officer of SJTA, Ajay Kumar Jena today filed a formal complaint with the Singhadwar police station to take legal actions against the unauthorised persons.

The Temple Administration in support of its complaint, has filed the relevant CCTV footage and the order prohibiting unauthorised persons from climbing the chariots, officials said.

Earlier, SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee had warned servitors and all concerned not to allow unauthorised persons on the chariots. Even, the Chief Administrator had to pull out one person sitting on the Darpadalan chariot of Devi Subhadra masquerading as a servitor.

Dr.Padhee had directed the temple staff to identify the persons and file a complaint against them with the police.

Meanwhile, the state is all set for the Suna Besha of the holy Trinity. The SJTA has made all arrangements for smooth completion of the rituals on time while the Police has made tight security arrangements in Puri town.

 About 190 platoons of the police force will be deployed for the security and crowd management for the Suna Besha of Sri Jagannath and his siblings temple atop their respective chariot.

Puri Superintendent of Police Pinak Mishra said the administration has been expecting a footfall of about 15 lakh devotees to witness Suna Vesha of the Trinity.

Barricades have been raised from the municipal market square to Singhadwar. All the devotees and the visitors will go through the barricades in the queue and after darshan they will return through Badadanda, the SP said.

All the by-lanes connected with the GRand Road will be sealed.This apart special traffic management will be enforced along all the routes leading to Puri.

Vehicle parking places will be regulated and drones will be used to monitor the crowd movement through two integrated control rooms. Senior police officers are entrusted for smooth conduct of devotees, he said.

A three-layer security cover will be laid around the three chariots during the Suna Besha. Arrangements are made for the VIP and VVIP darshan of Suna Besha.

The SP appealed to the devotees not to bring infants and very old persons to the event. The devotees were also asked not to use their mobile phones near the chariots.

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced plans to run 43 special trains to Puri from various destinations for tomorrow’s auspicious ritual.
