Bhubaneswar: After assuming charge as the Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Mukesh Mahaling today conducted a review of the activities of the Department and advised officials to work for efficient delivery of e-governance services at the grassroots level
After reaching the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) tower, Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers.
On this occasion, the Minister had a detailed discussion with the senior officers of the Department. He was apprised regarding the various programmes of the Electronics and Information Technology Department. Further, attention was drawn on the role of E&IT Department in delivering e-Governance services to the common citizens through technical intervention.
Dr.Mahaling was apprised regarding the role played by the various organisations functioning under the aegis of the Department namely Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), Odia Virtual Academy, IIIT Bhubaneswar and OKCL.
Leading e-Governance projects such as Odisha State Data Centre, Odisha State Wide Area Network (OSWAN), Cyber Security Operation Centre (CSOC), Odisha Secretariat IT Centre, Bharat Net, Odisha State Workflow Automation System (OSWAS), Odisha One Portal, E-Despatch, CM Dashboard, SAMS, E-District etc. and their evolution over the years was explained to the Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Mahaling stated that the newly formed Government will work in a time bound manner towards fulfilling the promises as stated in the manifesto to stand true to the mandate of the people.
He asserted that the government is determined to work tirelessly and will take exemplary steps in the next 100days for the welfare of the state. He said, this Government is a Government of the common man. As such, all necessary steps will be taken by the Government to fulfil the aspirations of common man by use of technology in Governance, he said.
The Electronics and IT Department will work as per the mandate of the Digital India Initiative of the Government of India, taking steps to implement all welfare schemes at the grassroots level, the Minister added.
Apart from this, priority will be given for bringing new IT companies to the State and creating a conducive ecosystem for investors in the Electronics and IT sector.
Further, pro-active steps will be taken towards popularizing Odia Virtual Academy by organising workshops, conferences, meetings and virtual literary discussions. Apart from this, the Minister said that emphasis would be laid on strengthening mobile network and internet facilities in the rural areas of the State.
Concluding the review, Dr.Mahaling thanked all the senior officials present and called upon them to work in unison towards providing excellent e-Governance services to the people at the grassroots level.
CEO of OCAC-cum Addl. Secretary E&IT Manoj Pattnaik, Special Secretary Manas Ranjan Panda, General Manager of OCAC Madhumita Rath, Additional Secretary Aditya Mohapatra, Joint Secretary Jayanti Dei and other senior officials of the Department attended the meeting.
