Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today asked the Police Department to provide quality policing to the people at grassroots and not to harass the people who are visiting police stations.
The Chief Minister today took stock of the overall law and order situation in the State at a high-level meeting here. Police DG Arun Sarangi, ADG (law and order) Sanjay Kumar, ADG R K Sharma, Arun Bothra, Amitabh Thakur, Director Intelligence Saumendra Priyadarshi, Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda and Special Secretary, Home Santosh Bala attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister conducted a thorough review of the law and order situation and functioning of the police in the State.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, DGP Shri Sarangi said it was a courtesy meeting and various issues related to the functioning of the Police Department were discussed.
“The Chief Minister laid emphasis on how we can provide quality service to people. He asked us to give a patient hearing to the people who are coming to police stations to lodge complaints. He also directed us to behave well with the people,” the DGP told media persons.
He informed that all police stations will be intimated about the directions given by the CM so that they can act in line with the CM’s directions.
After taking oath as the new Chief Minister of the State, Shri Majhi held the first meeting with the Police Department officers. Now, the government is expecting that the police will not harass anybody who is visiting a police station seeking justice.
