Puri: On the second phase voting day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a mega roadshow in Puri this morning to seek votes for party candidates, after visiting Lord Jagannath temple here.
The nearly two-km-long roadshow of the Prime Minister began near Marichkote Square and concluded at the Medical square on the Grand Avenue.
The Prime Minister, who was seen standing on the footrest of the vehicle with a BJP camp on his head, waved back at the crowds, comprising a large number of men and women.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by BJP MP candidate for Puri, Sambit Patra, MLA candidate Jayanta Sarangi and State BJP President Manmohan Samal.
Thousands of people lined up on both sides of the barricaded stretch on the Grand Road, waving to Modi, holding the BJP poll symbol and raising slogans hailing him. Many people are enthusiastically clicking pictures on their mobile phones.
People confined behind barricades put up along the road raised slogans in favour of the BJP and waved party flags as PM Modi’s cavalcade traversed the stretch.
children, women and elders lined the streets as the Prime Minister’s motorcade passed through. The crowd shouted slogans and showered flower petals.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Puri for the roadshow. After the roadshow, Shri Modi is scheduled to address two public rallies at Angul and Cuttack before leaving Odisha.
The PM had arrived in Bhubaneswar last evening on a two-day visit. After landing in Bhubaneswar, he held a closed-door meeting with frontline BJP leaders at the party office and gave interviews to some Media persons. The Prime Minister made a night halt at Raj Bhawan.
This is Shri Modi’s third visit to the state in the last two weeks during the ongoing Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
