Bhubaneswar: Top BJD leader and 5T Chairman V K Pandian today claimed that his party BJD will win 24 MLA seats out of 28 seats where voting was held yesterday.
Elections in Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Berhampur Lok Sabha segments and 28 Assembly constituencies under these LS segments were held on May 13 in the first phase.
Speaking to the national media, Shri Pandian said BJD will win at least 24 seats in Phase-1 Assembly polls.
“BJD is sweeping the elections whether it is first, second, third or fourth phase. To be precise, in the first phase, BJD is winning a minimum of 24 out of 28 seats. Last time we got 20 seats. This time, there is Naveen Patnaik’s wave, so we should be winning more than 24 seats out of 28 seats. In two seats there is competition with Congress and BJP,” Shri Pandian said.
When asked about the Lok Sabha elections, he did not reveal the number as the area is vast but said, “we are going to do much better than last time…”
On the other hand, Odisha BJP election in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar claimed that his party is going to win 18 MLA seats and all four MP seats in the first phase. He was confident that BJP will form government in Odisha while claiming that the party would win 17 MP seats in the State.
According to Election Commission sources, 73.97 percent polling reported during the first phase of elections in the State. The highest 80.22 percent polling reported was in the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha segment, followed by Koraput (76.98%), Kalahandi (75.71%) and Berhampur (63.34%).
