Bhubaneswar: To woo women voters ahead of polls, the women wing of Congress today released its ‘Nari Nyay (women’s justice) guarantee card promising several key initiatives for women of the State.
While releasing the Guarantee Card, State Mahila Congress President Minakshi Bahinipati said, “If the Congress is voted to power, we will waive off the bank loans of women members of the self-help groups (SHGs) as per the party’s Nari Nyay Guarantee.”
Similarly, under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, Rs 2000 will be provided to women who are the heads of their households. Widow and Old Age pension will be hiked to Rs 2000, she promised.
If the Congress is voted to power at Centre, the Mahila Congress promised to provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each year to one woman from all poor families. The party also promised to provide 50 per cent reservation to women in all Central Government jobs, if it forms Government at Delhi.
Among other promises, the party said it will provide a cooking gas cylinder at Rs 500 every month to each family, social security pension of Rs 2,000 for women and Rs 3000 for dalit & tribal women every month.
Moreover, the party vowed to provide loans up to Rs 25 lakh to women without a mortgage for setting up micro and small industries for all graduates. The Mahila Congress also pledged to offer free treatment up to Rs 25 lakh in government and private hospitals for all, including government servants.
