Deogarh: On direct supervision of PCCF Wildlife Susanta Nanda the officials of the Deogarh Forest Division has been able to nab culprits engaged in ‘Tusk Trade’.
Team headed by Swadhinata Sahani, ACF Deogarh Forest Division, Dibya Sankar Behera, Range Officer and Six Protection Squad raided Maa Tarini Alankar, a Jewellary Shop at Deogarh and detained Premraj Sahu, Rajesh Kumar, Samir Kapardar.
Team Forest recovered two Elephant Tusks weighing 4.2KG and 4.7 KG from the possession of the accused persons. Tusks along one Maruti Baleno with Registration Number: OD 15L 8210 (Metallic Grey Color), three mobile phones and some other documents, which have been used in the wildlife offence have been seized.
Owner of the Jewellary Shop, Premraj Sahu and Samir Kapardar are from Deogarh, while Rajesh Kumar is from Haryana.
FIR has been registered and further investigation is on, said a senior official.
State Wildlife Organization is now connecting people and more information is percolating about wildlife criminals and traders, who are engaged in elephant poaching and trading of tusks.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Wild life Shri Nanda is on move in the forest zones of Odisha and coordinating the efforts of enforcement in the forests for protection of wildlife.
