Bhubaneswar: While State Government is making determined efforts for elimination of Single Use Plastic in the State, Odisha State Pollution Control Board has extended its support for such a green endeavor in a big way.
Member Secretary OSPCB, K Murugesan has presented details in this regard in the 128th Board Meeting held here under the Chairmanship of Chairman OSPCB and Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena.
While Chief Secretary Shri Jena said as ‘Festival Season’ is ahead, OSPCB is needed to curb Single Use Plastic in the State and handle the management of hazardous materials.
Dr.Murugesan said that the OSPCB has taken up multipronged strategy to combat pollution across the state and has been proactively implementing the Pollution Control Action Plan for the Sector.
OSPCB is coordinating the green efforts with District Collectors, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, School & Mass Education Department as well as Housing & Urban Development Department, said sources.
Dr.Murugesan presented Financial Details in the Board Meeting, which was approved in the Meeting.
Member Secretary OSPCB, Dr.Murugesan detailed out steps taken by OSPCB for environmental pollution control and it was appreciated by the members of the Board.
Chairman Shri Jena advised for more research and development for management of hazardous substances and pollution control across the state.
He advised for organization of a Workshop on latest instruments and machineries utilized by the Industries for pollution control.
Chief Secretary advised for taking support of Voluntary Agencies in pollution control measures.
Among the Senior Officials, Labor Commissioner N Thirumala Naik, Commissioner Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Vijaya Amruta Kulange and others joined the meeting.
