Bhubaneswar: The Union Government has sanctioned Rs 174.215 crore for the expansion of National Highway-53 in Angul district and making it a two-lane, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted on Sunday.

He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari for this.

The amount has been approved for widening and making two lanes of the National Highway with three bypasses at Rengali, Jainkot and Takua in NH-53 which connects the State’s major industrial and mining corridors with Paradip Port.

The expansion and improvement of highways will ensure safe movement of people, Shri Pradhan said in the tweet.

 Apart from this, the highway will facilitate the movement of heavy vehicles and accelerate the social and economic development of this industrial corridor and Coal India, NTPC, Jindal Steel.

Shri Pradhan said that the extension of NH 53 will facilitate the development of the industrial sector and growth in social and economic development.
