AI; Productivity Engine For Economic Growth

Bhubaneswar: It is experienced that Ashok Kumar Tripathy headed Odisha Productivity Council is spearheading Green Productivity , Sustainability and the responsible use of AI as a Productivity engine for economic growth. This is done as an joint effort with National Productivity Council.

So when Odisha State Productivity Council jointly with National Productivity Council approached Biswajeet Pattanayak , President of ASBM University Bhubaneswar a few days back to meet their students of MBA , Commerce , Information Systems and apprised them about green Productivity , Sustainability and the responsible use of AI as a Productivity engine for economic growth , Prof.Pattanayak readily agreed .

Accordingly Dean, School of Business Prof Eirene Leela Rout , Dr Ricky Mohanty , Professor of Information Systems arranged the interaction with students of ASBM University on 30 March , 2024 from 11 am to 1 pm at their campus.

Shyama Prasad of National Productivity Council apprised the students about Productivity , Green Productivity , Sustainability issues and the role of Artificial Intelligence in increasing the productivity of organizations.

Ashok Kumar Tripathy , IAS (R) , at present an Independent Director , Steel Authority of India Limited and President of Odisha State Productivity Council apprised the students that Artificial Intelligence is set to be a defining future technology and how AI is a machine based system that infers from the inputs it receives how to generate outputs such as predictions , content , recommendations or decisions that can influence physical or virtual environments .

He informed the students about European Union’s landmark legislation on Artificial Intelligence passed on 13th March , 2024 and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act , 2023 . He advised the students to take up certificate courses on AI available online as more and more Indian Enterprises are increasing their AI adoption following the Covid 19 pandemic.

Then with the help of  Prof. Ricky Mohanty (School of Information System), Prof. Daisy Irani Patnaik, Prof. Avijit Mondol,, Prof. Bani Bhusan Praharaj, Prof. Ananya Dash and Prof. Eirene Leela Rout (Dean, School of Business), students were asked to give their written views on Artificial Intelligence as a Productivity Engine for Economic Growth .

Similar program was held earlier with the students of SOA University , Bhubaneswar and another program will soon be held for the students of IIT Bhubaneswar by Odisha State Productivity Council jointly with National Productivity Council, said sources.
