4Phase Poll In Odisha

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced that Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha will be held in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The counting of votes will be done on June 4 and the result will be declared on the same day.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has announced the detailed program for Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha Polls.

According to the ECI, Four Lok Sabha seats— Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Koraput Lok Sabha seats and Assembly constituencies under the segments will go for elections on May 13.

The MP segments of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska along with the MLA seats under these constituencies will go for polls on May 20.

Elections for Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Puri and Bhubaneswar MP seats along with the MLA seats will be held on May 25.

Moreover, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur Parliamentary Constituencies along with the MLA segments under these constituencies will go for twin elections on June 1.  

Elections for 28 Assembly Constituencies will be held on May 13, for which Gazette Notification will be issued on April 18 while April 25 will be the last day for filing of nominations. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on April 26 and last date for withdrawal of candidatures is April 29.

Similarly, notification for election to 35 MLA seats (to be held on May 20) will be issued on April 26, for which candidates can submit their nomination papers by May 3. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on May 4. The candidates can withdraw their nominations till May 6.

As many as 42 Assembly segments will go for election on May 25. The official Gazette Notification will be issued on April 29 while candidates can file nomination papers before May 6. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on May 7 and last date for withdrawal of candidatures is May 9.

Remaining 42 Assembly segments will go for polls on June 1 for which official notification will be published on May 7. Candidates can file nomination papers upto May 14 while the documents will be examined on the next day. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is May 17.
