Bhubaneswar: Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute (BPSNI) organized two days long Industry Oriented Short Term Training Program.
The Program was inaugurated today at Conference Hall of SCTE& VT , Bhubaneswar.
The Chief Guest of the occasion was Raghu. G., DTET & Vice Chairman, SCTE& VT ,Odisha .
In the inaugural address Sri Raghu emphasized on the need of skill development and orientation along with their regular curriculum will be absolutely required for the students perusing B.TECH.
Also he pointed out about the role of BPNSI to bridge the gap and also advised that BPNSI being an institute of importance should conduct this kind of program regularly.
Speaking on the occasion, Pritam Purkhaystha ,the Director of BPNSI emphasized on the present scenario of Indian Steel Sector and it’s present contribution to the Indian economy.
Also he elaborated the plan of BPNSI to conduct similar programs in days ahead.
The B.Tech students of leading Engineering colleges in Bhubaneswar attended the program.
Eminent speakers from steel industries took part in the training program.
Also the students will go for industry visit for exposure.
Director of the Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute, Shri Purkayastha guided the students on development of their career in the steel industry.
During the workshop, training sessions have been held on different processes for production of steel.
Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute had been established in 2002 and subsequently in 2004, the Central Cabinet had decided to upgrade it. As of now the institute is imparting certificate courses only.
The Institute creates trained manpower with the requisite skill set and also re-skills and upskills the existing manpower in the steel sector. Beside academics, the Institute fosters higher & more efficient production of steel by providing technical consultancy to the steel plants for implementing Energy Efficient Manufacturing Processes.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had demanded the Centre to upgrade the National Steel Institute to a full-fledged IIT like educational institutions as had been decided way back in 2004. But, still, the proposal is under consideration of the Government of India.
