Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today said that Odisha’s economy is expected to reach Rs 41 lakh crore by 2036 when the state will be 100 years since its formation.
Similarly, the economy is also expected to reach a 1.5 trillion-dollar economy by 2047 when India will celebrate the completion of 100 years to independence, he said while inaugurating Resurgent Odisha 2024 organized by the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (UCCIL), in collaboration with the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department of Odisha government here at Janata Maidan.
Prabodh Kumar Mohanty, Chairman Resurgent Odisha-2024, UCCI Chief Brahma Mishra, and Team UCCI have been stedfastly working hard to make this Conclave a grand success. Shri Mohanty presented Lord Jagannatha Lod Balabhadra and Devi Subhdra momento to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister was confident that these targets will be met smoothly as the State has abundant natural resources like minerals, 480 km coast line, human resources and other required logistics. Above all, the State now has a strong political willpower to fulfil it, he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized the State’s commitment to industrialization, which will create employment opportunities for the youth. He highlighted that Odisha, being an agrarian state with three-fourths of its population dependent on agriculture, must balance industrial growth with the needs of its agricultural sector.
The Chief Minister also noted that the state government is focusing on both large-scale industries and small and medium enterprises, including agro-based industries.
“If industrialization progresses, it will provide ample employment opportunities for our youth, ensuring they no longer have to worry about earning a livelihood,” said Shri Majhi. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the Purvodaya development initiative, ensuring that Odisha leads in this endeavor.
