20L+Women In Subhdra Fold

Sundargarh: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 each to more than 20 lakh new beneficiaries under the largest women empowerment scheme ‘Subhadra’.

In the first phase, the assistance was handed over to more than 25 lakh beneficiaries to the Prime Minister’s office. In the second phase, assistance was provided to more than 35 lakh beneficiaries at Baripada in Mayurbhanj. Till the third phase, 80 lakh women in the state have received assistance of Rs 4,000 crore.

Chief Minister said that this assistance will help in realizing the dreams and aspirations of women. People from all walks of life should feel the benefits of development. Subhadra is a well thought out and beautiful step in this direction.

In his address, the Chief Minister praised Sundargarh district and said that Sundargarh is the cradle of hockey. Many international sportspersons like Michael Kindo, Padma Shri Dilip Tirkey, Padmashri Ignace Tirkey, Lazarus Barla, William Khes, Amit Rohidas, Neelam Sanjeev Khesh, Subhadra Pradhan, Neelima Kujur, Jyoti Sunita Kullu, Namita Toppo have been born on this holy soil.

Chief Minister appreciated the contribution of Sundargarh to Odisha in the fields of education, health, mining, industry and tourism. He highly appreciated the art, culture, traditions of Sundargarh and especially the tribal culture. Tribal songs, karma dances, khadia dances, Santali dances, etc. are seen in every festival, he said.

In Sundargarh district, a total of more than 4.59 lakh mothers and sisters have registered with Subhadra and by the third phase, more than 3.37 lakh women have been paid the first instalment, he said. The Chief Minister inaugurated 984 projects worth Rs 1201 crore for Sundargarh district today.

Chief Minister inaugurated 692 projects for the development of Sundargarh district. An investment of Rs 808 crore 30 lakh 15 thousand has been made for this. He also laid the foundation stone of 288 projects for the district. For this, an investment of Rs 312 crore 3 lakh 1 thousand rupees will be made. The chief minister also launched four more projects worth Rs 81 crore.

Underlining the government’s promises and commitments, the Chief Minister said that on the first day of the formation of our government, the Cabinet met and decided to fulfill the four major promises. Subhadra’s plan is one of them. Within 100 days of the formation of our government, we have fulfilled our promise to the people of the state by launching this scheme at the karkamal of Hon’ble Prime Ministerji.

More than 1 crore mothers and sisters of the state will be benefited by the Subhadra Scheme. This is the biggest public welfare scheme for our state, the Chief Minister said. In the field of women’s empowerment, the previous governments had greatly publicised mission shakti. But even that included the highest number of 70 lakh women. Mission Shakti used to provide interest-free loans. But under the Subhadra scheme, we are providing direct financial assistance to the sisters,” he said.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram said that the State Government is working with commitment for the development of women. He said women empowerment would be taken forward by including all eligible beneficiaries in the Subhadra Scheme.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said that the state government under the leadership of Mohan Majhi keeps whatever promises it has made with commitment. He said that there is unprecedented enthusiasm among mothers for the Subhadra scheme. More than one crore women in the state have gone out of their homes on their own and digitised documents. It is a big achievement,” she said. On this occasion, she thanked the ASHA workers and self-help groups for their help in this work.

Minister for Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Rabi Nayak also addressed the gathering and said that Odisha is now making huge strides on the path of development. Odisha will definitely be the number one state, he said. Raghunathpalli MLA Durga Charan Tanti also attended the event.

Shubha Sharma, Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development Department delivered the welcome address. Sundargarh District Collector Manoj Satyavan Mahajan proposed the vote of thanks.
