20 Lakh For Terror Victim Family

Balasore: In a major approach towards anti-terrorism, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia for the family of Prasant Satpathy, who was killed in a terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon.

While Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia and Maharashtra government Rs 5 lakh to the victims of Pahalgam attack, CM Shri Majhi superseded the States and announced the highest amount of Rs 20 lakh for the family of Shri Satpathy.

He also announced a Government Job for the deceased’s wife Priyadarshini Acharya. The CM has assured that the State Government will take care of the family. The entire education of Prasant’s son will also be taken care of by the State Government, he announced.

“I express my deep condolences on the passing away of Balasore resident Satpathy, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. The state government stands with the family. The government will give financial assistance of Rs 20 lakhs and a job to the deceased’s wife. We will also support the education of the child of the deceased,” he told Media.

Despite the sunny day, the Chief Minister participated in the funeral procession of Prasant Satapathy at his native Ishani village in Balasore district.

 He walked down along the mortal remains of Shri Satpathy along with Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena, State BJP President Manmohan Samal, MP Pratap Sarangi, MLA Manas Dutta and the deceased’s family and friends.

The Chief Minister met Shri Satpathy’s wife and family members and consoled them.

Prashant’s mortal remains reached Bhubaneswar airport at around 12.30 am.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari paid tributes with State BJP President Manmohan Samal, PCC President Bhakta Charan Das.

ACS Home Sataybrata Sahu, Police DG YB Khurania, and other senior police officials also paying floral tributes to Prashant.

Prashant’s family members were also present at the airport along with hundreds of people. Apart from his wife Priyadarshani and son Tanuj, his younger brother Jayant and two other relatives — Manoranjan Mohanty and Ratnashri Mohanty — accompanied the body in the special flight that reached here from Srinagar via New Delhi.

Condemning the incident, the Deputy CM said that such incidents are not expected in a civil society and that they need to be dealt with in the strongest manner.

BJP MP Sambit Patra says, “The whole world is shocked by the Pahalgam terror attack. Seven of our people who are part of our Panchayati Raj system were stranded in Pahalgam. Soon after the terror incident, they contacted us, and we got in touch with LG Manjo Sinha’s office, which helped us arrange their travel to Jammu.

From Jammu, they travelled to Delhi, and then to Bhubaneswar. Sadly, we lost one Prashant ji in the incident,” Dr.Patra said.
