Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved an additional grant of Rs 175.5 crore for Special Development Council (SDC) constituted in nine different districts for the welfare of tribals.
According to officials, the amount will be spent on preserving the language, art, culture, and heritage of Adivasis (tribals). This additional grant will be available along with the normal grant of Rs 175.5 crore for the current year.
This was revealed by Secretary to CM, V K Pandian during a discussion with Chairpersons of the SDCs today.
The SDC will receive a total grant of Rs 351 crore this year. With this announcement, the chairpersons and members of the nine SDCs who were present during the discussion through video conferencing expressed their happiness and thanked the State Government for its continuous support.
Notably, the State Government has constituted Special Development Councils (SDCs) in the nine districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Sundargarh and Nabarangpur.
