Bhubaneswar: State Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday approved tenders of Rs 1553 crore for execution of mega piped water supply projects in rural areas of 11 Blocks in four Districts.
Apart from the abolition of the contractual recruitment system, the Cabinet has approved eight other proposals of the Departments of Skill Development and Technical Education, General Administration & Public Grievances and Pacnhayati Raj & Drinking Water.
Briefing the media, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said that the Cabinet approved the tenders for construction of major piped water supply projects in 4 districts.
The Cabinet has approved a tender worth Rs. 395.43 crore for execution of Mega Piped Water Supply projects to provide safe drinking water in Nayagarh District out of JJM funding, said the Chief Secretary.
By execution of the projects, 1,54,594 people of 232 villages under 37 GPs of Ranpur Block and 1,53,637 people of 197 villages under 36 GPs of Odagaon Block of the District will be provided with safe drinking water
Another Mega Piped Water Supply project of Rs 453.10 crore has been approved by the Cabinet to provide safe drinking water in Baragarh District out of JJM funding. With the execution of this project, 65,715 people of 104 villages under 15 GPs of Ambabhona Block; 90,321 people of 84 villages under 16 GPs of Bhatli Block and 1,39,254 people of 128 villages under 27 GPs of Sohela Block of the District will be benefited, said Mahapatra.
Similarly, tender for the third PWS project worth Rs 456.51 crore has been awarded to provide drinking water to 4,16,886 people of 356 villages under 63 GPs of 4 Blocks of the Khurda district.
Moreover, the State Cabinet has approved the tender amounting to Rs. 248.91 crore for execution of PWS projects to provide safe drinking water in Kalahandi District out of JJM funding.
By execution of the projects, around 1,26,328 people of 155 villages under 36 GPs of 2 Blocks of the District will be benefited.
Mahapatra added that the Cabinet also approved waiver of rent of SDC and SDECs for the period from March, 2020 to October 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Rules for Odisha Group-B, C, and D Posts (Repeal and Special Provisions)-2022; Amendment of Odisha Heads of Department of Recruitment and conditions of service of Junior Assts, ASOs, SOs Rules-2019; Combined Technical Service recruitment examination Rules; and, Combined post-graduate level recruitment examination for specialist posts service Rules-2022 have been approved by the Cabinet.
