Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet on Monday approved Chief Minister’s Power Development Programme (CMPDP) to address the low voltage issues in rural areas.
The scheme will be executed with an outlay of Rs.1284.49 crore by power distribution companies (Discoms) during the financial years 2023-24 & 2024-25, said Chief Secretary Pardeep Kumar Jena.
Today the Cabinet approved the proposal for execution of various system improvement works in the distribution network under CMPDP. The programme will be undertaken under Phase-V of Odisha Distribution System Strengthening Programme (ODSSP), he said.
With a view to ensure quality and reliable power supply to the consumers, the Cabinet had sanctioned 473 number of 33/11 KV Primary sub-stations and associated lines under Phase-I to III of ODSSP with an approved outlay of Rs. 3843 crore. Most of the works under these phases have been completed, Jena said.
Subsequently, he said, under Phase-IV of ODSSP, the government has approved 99 numbers of 33/11 KV sub-stations and 64 independent lines with an outlay of Rs. 1796.73 crore. At present, these projects are under execution.
As there is a necessity to take up further system improvement works, Phase-V of ODSSP under Chief Minister’s Power Development Programme (CMPDP) has been formulated, the Chief Secretary said.
The Cabinet, which has approved nine proposals, has also decided to recommend inclusion of Kui language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India.
Inclusion of the Kui language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India will add the following benefits to the Kandh tribe of Odisha. More than 7 lakh Kui speaking indigenous people will be benefited with this decision and it will have no financial implication, he added.
Further, the State Government has decided to construct a high level bridge over river Kharasrota on Nua Bazar- Balitara Ghat Road in the Kendrapara district with a cost of Rs 97.24 lakh. It will provide connectivity to the missing link between Aul Block & Rajkanika Block of the district.
It will also bring connectivity to Chandabali Block in Bhadrak district. The project is targeted to be completed within a span of 30 months.
The Cabinet has decided for sanction of lease of government land measuring 5 acres in Brahmaniput Mouza under Machhakund Tahasil of Koraput district in favour of Lamtaput Degree College, Lamtaput on free of premium.
The Cabinet has decided for sanction of lease of government land measuring 8.693 acres in Balangir Mouza in favour of Rajendra University for infrastructure development of the University on free of premium and incidental charges basis.
