Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to expedite justice delivery across the state, the Odisha government has announced the establishment of 11 new Additional District Judge (ADJ) courts.
The official notification was issued today, on August 4, 2025, by the state’s Law Department.
The initiative aims to ease the burden on existing judicial infrastructure and provide a faster resolution of cases. As part of this expansion, three specialized ADJ (Vigilance) courts will be set up in the districts of Puri, Nayagarh, and Kendrapara.
These courts are specifically designed to handle cases related to vigilance and corruption, ensuring more focused and efficient legal proceedings in these matters.
Additionally, the notification outlines the establishment of eight other ADJ courts in various strategic locations:
- Pipili in Puri district
- Ranpur in Nayagarh district
- Banpur in Khordha district
- Basudevpur in Bhadrak district
- Talcher in Angul district
- Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district
- Banki in Cuttack district
- G. Udaygiri in Kandhamal district
This expansion is expected to address a wide range of civil and criminal cases, providing more accessible judicial services to the people in these regions.
The creation of these new courts is a key step by the government to strengthen the state’s judicial system and uphold the principle of speedy justice.
