Covid Crosses 1.58 L Mark

 Odisha’s COVID-19 cases mounted to 1,58,650 with 3,645 more people testing positive to the infection.

The State also registered recovery of more people than the new positive cases.
While the State reported 3645 new positive cases, the number of people recovered from disease stands at 3714.
The State also registered eight more fatalities taking the COVID-19 death toll to 645.
Of the total new cases detected from 30 districts and the state pool, 2,151 have been reported from different quarantine centres while the remaining 1,494 people tested positive during contact tracing.
Khurda district of which Bhubaneswar is a part, reported highest 517 new cases followed by Cuttack (357) and Puri (246). As many as 344 cases also came from the state pool, the official said.
BJD MLA from Pipili in Puri district, Pradeep Maharathy said he has been tested positive to the infection and suggested all those who have come in contact with him recently, to undergo tests, if required.
The eight fresh fatalities were reported from six separate districts. While Cuttack reported maximum 3 deaths, one patient each succumbed to the infection in Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Subarnapur districts. Boudh reported its first COVID-19 death Tuesday.
Of the State’s COVID-19 toll of 645, Ganjam alone accounted for 215 deaths followed by Khurda (94). However, there was no report of death from Ganjam and Khurda on Tuesday, he said.
With the new cases, fresh fatalities and recoveries, the number of active cases in the state increased to 32,214 which is less by 77 cases from yesterday’s active patients.

The State has so far conducted more than 25.16 lakh sample tests including 43,940 on Monday.
