Zero Infection Zone Plan

With Odisha reporting 12 fresh COVID deaths and 2100 new cases in a span of only 10 days in June, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday asked officials to ensure “Zero Infection Zones (ZIZ)” in Government offices.

CM also asked State Police to take stringent action against flouting guidelines like mandatory mask wearing and social distance.
Mr.Patnaik gave the direction while interacting with senior officers, district collectors, SPs and other police officers.
Secretary To CM V Karthikeya Pandian and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
“It has already been three months since the COVID norms are implemented in the state. If still there is violation, strict action should be initiated against the offenders those violating of Covid Guidelines,” Mr.Patnaik asked the State Police.
CM noted that wearing of mask and maintaining social distance are two major tools to fight the pandemic.
Mr.Patnaik said government offices must be kept infection free and head of the offices should be accountable for the violation of the COVID-19 norms implemented both by the State and the Central Government.
During his interaction with DMs and SPs, Mr.Patnaik took feedback and wanted to know their experience. The Chief Minister also said that the experience of the collectors and SPs will be incorporated in the state government’s COVID management strategy for the month of July.
Mr.Patnaik also directed the District Administrations to form COVID Care Committees (CCCs) at Gram Panchayats level to stop spread of the disease in the grass root level. He said the district authorities should provide funds and training and grant more power and assistance to the COVID Care Committees (CCCs).
CM said there is a need for creation of Covid Care Home in every Gram Panchayat, while there will be Temporary Medical Centres (TMC) in cluster Gram Panchayats.
Mr.Patnaik also told the collectors and SPs to keep in touch with the COVID-19 infected frontline workers. “I have been talking to Covid infected warriors to collect feedback. So far the feedback is good. I want senior officials to do the same. It will motivate the COVID infected persons in a great way,” the Chief Minister said.
“Take care of frontline workers as they are taking risk to save people from the pandemic. They should be sensitized in protecting themselves,” Mr.Patnaik said.
Chief Minister also asked the district authorities to ensure that the Private hospitals in the State must be sanitized and frequent random checks must be taken up at these places as some positive cases are being reported from the private hospitals and nursing homes.
On the government’s policy of keeping the offices free from COVID, Patnaik said the staff should be informed on the dos and don’ts. “We should be made strict in protecting our institutions. Every head of office will be made responsible for these,” he said.
The Chief Minister also directed the DMs to prepare Action Plan and Strategies to handle Hotspots in the respective districts.
