Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra has advised Puri District Administration to intensify on testing of Novel Corona Virus(COVID-19) cases.
Mr.Mohapatra on 21 September through a Video Conference, reviewed Covid situation and containment measures in Puri district. Emphasising upon intensified testing, he directed to double the number of testing, average 2000 testing per day.
Although Covid recovery rate stands at 80% in the district, Development Commissioner directed Puri District Administration and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation to take necessary steps for arrangement of more ICUs for treatment of serious Covid patients.
He further directed to undertake health screening of the Servitors and other employees of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration before their entry into the Shrine.
He also directed to intensify Covid awareness drive and to undertake enforcement against violation of Covid protocol, especially in the hotels, restaurants, see beach, health institutions and crowded places.

In the meantime, Dr. Arabinda Mohanty, Senior Specialist, Paediatrics and Dr. Sampad Das, Medicine Specialist, Aswini Hospital, Cuttack, Dr. Amarendranath Mohanty, Director, SIH&FW answered the queries of people from different areas of the State regarding home isolation or home quarantine of children during the daily press briefing today.
Children should stay in home isolation like elders. Mothers, grandmothers and other affectionate family members should take their care.
They should be convinced to use mask, sanitizers and to obey other guidelines. Children develop immunity if they play and remain happy. Breast feeding, adhering to Covid protocol is also advisable.
Administering immunisation to children in the right time should continue, adhering to Covid guidelines, the team of doctors informed during the press briefing.
In case of fever, difficulty in breathing and tiredness, the children should be taken to the hospital for screening of their Oxygen level. Plasma therapy for children is also advisable but the dose must be taken into consideration, they said.
