Plea For Vacancy Filling

While there are large scale vacancies in the Government Departments, reluctance on part of the State Bureaucracy is creating desperation among the Job aspirants.

With more than One Lakh jobs are lying vacant in various Government Departments, Organizations and PSUs. However taking the alibi of austerity measures, officials are not taking up for filling up the post.

During Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic absence of officials in the field offices are felt very much. If two-three employees are falling sick due to COVID-19, Government Offices are closing down in Districts, Sub Divisions and Blocks.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik used to take review regularly during 2016-19 on filling up vacancies for which over 76,000 posts were filled up with Special Drives by the State Recruitment Agencies like OPSC and others.

In COVID-19 Pandemic job creation is needed as youth are losing hope and there are more than One Lakh posts are lying vacant in Agriculture, School and Mass Education, Health & Family Welfare, Revenue & Disaster Management, Water Resources, Energy, Works, Urban Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, ST & SC Development, Police and other sectors.

In the meantime State Government has decided to waive the interview system in recruitment of Group C and D level.

So Online Recruitment process can be adopted by the State Recruitment Agencies like OPSC.

Government of India is continuing the process of recruitment for filling up the posts and online recruitment is favorued now.

UPSC will be conducting examination on 4 October for All India Service Examination to fill up the vacancies.

Similar process can be organized by OPSC and other State Recruitment Agencies with Special Drives.

Once applications will be invited by the State Government for filling up vacancies, hope will be generated among the youth, which are losing hopes.

This is because due to COVID-19, Industries and Service Providers are not recruiting people and laying off the existing staff.

Once the State Government begins recruitment process, it will be a moral pressure on the Industry to open up job opportunities for the youth in Odisha.

While Department of Finance has already green signaled for continuing the filling up vacant posts, State Bureaucracy is needed to take up filling up the posts, so that this will generate hope among the youth.

 The unemployment situation in Odisha is very grim. Lakhs of educated youths, engaged as migrant workers, have recently returned to the state. At this moment, the State Government is needed to take up vacancy filling up drive.

And Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will have to take up the case as he was doing earlier, for which youth have been benefitted and State Recruitment Agencies were active in recruitment process.

Secretary to Chief Minister 5T V K Pandian was on the forefront for such vacancy filling drive under Mo Sarkar.

Now In COVID-19 Pandemic State Government’s over drive to fill up the vacancies is need of the hour and it will generate hope among the youth, which is losing hope, feel experts.
