State Government has augmented the health infrastructure in a big way following directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to increase the number of ICU beds in COVID-19 facilities.
ACS Health & Family Welfare Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra reviewed the current availability of both General and ICU beds in the COVID-19 facilities.
While more General beds and ICU (Intensive Care Unit), HDU (High Dependence Unit) beds have been arranged in both Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, across the State more such facilities have been organized, revealed a senior official in the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
The latest Information reveals that in as many as 702 General beds have been created in Cuttack while in Bhubaneswar a total 1617 General beds have been made available.
Across the State as many as 8310 General beds have been made available, sources said.
As on Sunday, 61 per cent General beds are occupied in Cuttack while 78 per cent beds are occupied in Bhubaneswar and 56 per cent occupied across the State.
So far as ICU, HDU beds are concerned, 278 ICU, HDU beds are occupied in Cuttack-- 55 per cent occupancy, while in Bhubaneswar 515 ICU HDU
beds are available of which 252 are occupied-- 49 per cent occupancy.
Overall in the State 1362 ICU HDU beds are available and occupancy rate is 48 per cent, officials said.
On ventilator count there are 73 available in Cuttack out of which 62 are under use by patients-- 85 per cent in use.
In Bhubaneswar 185 ventilators have been made available and 107 patients are using ventilators-- 58 per cent use.
Across the State 526 ventilators are available and out of which 240 are being utilized making 46 per cent under use.
The State Government has directed private hospitals to reserve 50 per cent of their General beds and 80 per cent of their ICU beds to enable more patients to avail the facilities.
ACS Health & Family Welfare, Mr.Mohapatra has issued orders on September 14 in this regard .
Categorical orders were issued by the State Government to the private hospitals to charge the patients at the rate as communicated by the Department of Health and Family Welfare earlier.
Further, with more and more people are opting for Home isolation, State Government has issued detailed Guidelines for services and tracking the treatment of patients in home isolation, officials said.
Accordingly BMC and CMC are scaling up their tracking and service system, the officials added.
