On Sunday State’s Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) cases crossed 1.5 lakh Mark after 3,913 more persons tested positive to the infection.
Positive cases are likely to touch 2 lakh figure by 30 September if the present trend continues, the experts said.
The State during the day registered 10 more deaths and recovery of as many as 3363 patients.
With 3,913 new cases, the state COVID-19 caseload now increased to 1, 50,807, he said.
While new cases were reported from all the 30 districts and the state pool, the fatalities reports came from seven separate districts.
Of the ten fresh fatalities, three deaths came from Khurda district followed by 2 from Cuttack and one each patient succumbed to the disease in Balasore, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj and Subarnapur districts, the official said.
With this the State’s COVID-19 toll raised to 626 of which Ganjam district alone accounted for 215 fatalities followed by Khurda (92).
The State has also reported the death of 53 other COVID-19 positive patients so far, but the government attributed case of their deaths due to comorbidities, the official said.
As many as 2,348 cases came from quarantine centers while the remaining 1,565 persons tested positive to the infection during contact tracing. Follow-up actions and further contact tracing is underway, he said.
Khurda district reported the highest 556 cases followed by Cuttack (382) and Puri (212). As many as 17 of the state’s 30 districts reported new cases above 100. Similarly, 107 positive cases also came from the state pool, he said.
With new positive cases, fresh fatalities and recoveries, Odisha’s active case number mounted to 31,486.
The State has so far conducted over 24.23 lakh sample tests including 48,504 clinical examinations on Saturday, he said.
Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation launched door to door health screening in the State Capital as the city’s tally reached 16,240 on Sunday with 395 more cases.
Capital City Bhubaneswar’s death toll mounted to 62, the BMC said.
