Odisha’s COVID-19 tally mounted to 1,46,894 with as many as 3,777 more persons tested positive to the infection, while 11 fatalities pushed the State’s death toll to 616.
While the new positive cases have been reported from all the 30 districts and State pool, the fatalities report came from eight districts.
Of the 11 fresh fatalities, Cuttack reported maximum 3 cases followed by 2 in Bhubaneswar (Khurda) and one each patient succumbed to the infection in the districts of Bolangir, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Nayagarh and Rayagada.
With this the State’s COVID-19 toll raised to 616 of which Ganjam district alone accounted for 214 deaths followed by Khurda (89). However, Ganjam district has not reported any casualty for two consecutive days, the official said.
The State recorded recovery of 3,217 patients taking the total number of persons cured of infection to 1,15,279 which is 78.47 per cent of the state’s caseload.
The State’s Case Fatality Rate (CFR) now stands at 0,42 per cent.
Odisha now has 30,946 active cases, which is 21.06 per cent of the total caseload.
Of the fresh 3,777cases, the official data said that 2,191 have been reported from different quarantine centres, while the remaining 1,586 persons were detected positive during contact tracing. Follow up actions and further contact tracing and is underway.
Khurda district, under which Bhubaneswar falls, reported the highest 815 new cases followed by Cuttack (368). As many as 192 positive cases have been detected from the state pool, the official said.
