Octogenarian Defeats Corona

Eighty seven-year-old Krupasindhu Sahu, who was admitted into the SUM Covid Hospital here recently in a serious condition, has emerged victorious in the grim battle uplifting the morale of the doctors, nurses and paramedics.

Mr. Sahu, who is the President of the city’s Senior Citizens’ Association, had breathing trouble and tested positive for Covid-19 when he was rushed to the hospital, the largest Covid-19 treatment facility in the state.

After being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), he recovered within a week’s time. But as Mr. Sahu had comorbidities, he was shifted to the SUM Ultimate Medicare to get treated for other underlying conditions. He was discharged from the hospital within a few days.

“The manner in which the doctors, nurses and other staff took my care, both at the SUM Covid Hospital and SUM Ultimate Medicare, to help me recover is praiseworthy. They nursed me back to health,” Mr. Sahu said while appreciating the efforts of the hospital staff.

Expressing the hope that the situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic would end soon, Mr. Sahu appealed to the people to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the government to keep infection at arm’s length. The octogenarian also thanked Dr. Siddhant Kar and Dr. S.S.Mishra for their help and advice.

Rajib Sekhar Sahu, eminent chartered accountant and son of Mr. Sahu, was also all praise for the treatment provided to his father at the two hospitals. He said he himself was also treated for Covid-19 and was satisfied with the treatment.

Mr. Sahu specifically thanked Dr. Samir Sahu, Dr. Pradipta Kumar Patra, Dr. Santosh Singh and Dr. Satya Mohapatra at the SUM Covid Hospital who relentlessly tried to revive his father.

He also praised Dr. Banambar Ray and Dr. Anand Mishra of SUM Ultimate Medicare who successfully treated his father for comorbidities.

While both the Central and State Governments have been fighting this grim battle the efforts of the SUM Covid Hospital in this war against the pandemic has been significant, he said while expressing his gratefulness to Prof. Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of the SOA Deemed to be University which was running the Covid Hospital.
