Balasore Gets Covid Hospital

Keeping in view the possibility of future need, Chief Secretary directed to set up another 100 bed Covid hospital in Balasore at an isolated place inside the district head quarter hospital.

The Covid hospital will be set up shortly. This will have ICU and OT facilitates for Covid patients. The place for this proposed hospital was also selected in course of this visit.

Mr.Tripathy said, the funds for this hospital would be provided from Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

Four new ICUs will also be set up in the existing Jyoti Covid hospital at Balasore.

Chief Secretary, Asit Tripathy visited Balasore and reviewed the Covid-19 management there. They visited the Covid hospital and District Head quarter hospital at Balasore and looked into treatment arrangements.

Mr.Tripathy reached Balasore along with Additional Chief Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Pradipta Kumar  Mohapatra, Covid Observer Balasore District, Madhu Sudan Padhi, Principal Secretary Commerce and Transport.

After the review and field inspection, Chief Secretary, Mr.Tripathy said, “So far Covid management in the district has been satisfactory. The mortality rate has been kept limited within 0.3 percent which is lower than many other districts". 

He complimented the dedicated efforts of the district administration, police and treating physicians along with health personnel engaged in covid management tasks.

Further, Chief Secretary, Mr.Tripathy directed to launch Jana Sampark Campaign involving the people’s leaders, community based organizations, resident welfare associations and health personnel   from coming Monday with intensive efforts for identifying the vulnerable people and the persons with co-morbidity.

 Looking into the functioning of dedicated Covid call center set up at district head quarter hospital for connecting the positive cases, Chief Secretary, Mr. Tripathy directed to attach it with 24x7 ambulance services especially during night hours. He also directed to make definite arrangements for communicating covid test results to the respective individuals over phone. Collector and SP of the district were advised to scale up the awareness among the people.

Director DMET, CBK  Mohanty, Collector Balasore, K. Sudarshan Chakravarty, SP,  Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, Principal Fakir Mohan Medical College, Ramchandra Giri, CDMO, Balasore, Dulalsen Jagdev along with senior officers of the district participated in the review meeting.
