Looking at the growth trend, Odisha is likely cross 1.6 Lakh mark of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) Cases by 15 September.
Experts and Officials handling COVID-19 Pandemic are expecting that if the present growth trend continues than the cases will be more than 1, 68,000 by Middle of September.
By 31 August Odisha confirmed 1,03,092 cases and as on today it is 1,24,031.
In view of such rising graph experts are apprehending that Odisha is likely to cross 1.68 Lakh Mark by 15 September.
First COVID-19 infected patient in Odisha was identified on 15March 2020 and by 30 April, number went up to 142.
At the time of imposition of first phase lockdown, total confirmed COVID cases in the state was limited to 60 and within one and half month this figure touched 1948 mark as on 31May.
However by 30 June total detected corona confirmed case rose to 7065.
And within a month such figure reached 31,877 marks by 31 July.
As per the official data as on 31 August total detected Corona confirmed case in the state was 1,03,092.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the month of March Corona test was conducted at Bhubaneswar in Regional Medical Research Center (RMRC) only.
In the meantime several testing centers are made operational in different parts of the state.
At present more than 50,000 samples are being collected per day for Corona virus testing.
By 30 April Corona took only one head in Odisha. However death toll in Corona reached 25 mark by 30 June and further rose to 177 by the end of July.
However total COVID-19 deaths in the state was recorded as 538, while India’s death toll was 70,626 as on 5 September.
Though population of the state is said to be more than 4.6 crore, till date total Covid testing in the state is done 20,98,401
From 1,24,031 confirmed cases in Odisha, as on 5 September, 2020 more than 93,774 patients are said to be recovered from COVID-19.
Recovery rate is more than 76 Percent and 82 Percent cases are asymptomatic.
As on 5 September, there are 29,658 active COVID-19 cases in the state. In view of rising trend such active case may cross 39,000 by Mid September.
Taking pro-active steps state government has opened Dedicated COVID Hospitals with 7843 Beds and ICUs facilities for 838 patients.
That apart Government is running COVID Care Centers with 19,530 Beds. in the state.
Health experts are apprehending that in view of rising trend of COVID-19 positive detection, infrastructures available at present may be inadequate to meet the requirement of COVID-19 patients.
Therefore, the State Administration is likely to open more Dedicated COVID Care Hospitals and increase the bed capacity and ICU facilities in existing CCHs to meet the future challenge, officials say.
However, growing trend shows that more number of asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients are opting for Home Isolation, which will ease burden on the State Government.
