State Government has decided to set up a new Covid Hospital in Government sector in VIMSAR, Burla to cater to growing need of the patients in Western Odisha.
A day after announcing establishment of eight new Covid hospitals and increasing facilities in some of the existing setups the State Government today decided to establish a 100 bedded Covid Hospital with ICU facilities in VIMSAR Campus at Burla.
This was announced by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy who along with Additional Chief Secretary (Health & Family Welfare) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra visited Sambalpur and VIMSAR on 5 September.
As per recommendations of the Technical Committee, State Government has decided to open COVID Hospital at VIMSAR.
“Presently operating isolation ward in VIMSAR will be developed to one 100 bedded Covid hospital with ICU facilities,” said Mr.Tripathy while assuring that this will be made functional very shortly with 10 days.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the Covid Pandemic situation and arrangements for treatment of Corona patients in VIMSAR during this visit.
It may be mentioned here that on Friday the State Government had decided to establish 8 new Covid Hospitals along with setting up of additional facilities in Covid treatment centers both in Government and Private sectors.
ACS, Health & Family Welfare, Mr.Mohapatra had said that while two dedicated Covid-19 hospitals would come up in SCB Medical College and Hospital, a Covid-19 facility would come up at SLN Medical College at Koraput and another dedicated facility at Capital Hospital in Government sector.
In private sector while additional facility of 25 ICUs would come up at Aditya Aswini Hospital in Bhubaneswar a new Covid facility would be set up at Kanungo Institute of Diabetes Specialties (KIDS) at Dumduma in Bhubaneswar. Similarly, two dedicated Covid hospitals will come up at SUN Hospital and Shruti Hospital in Cuttack.
RDC, Northern Division Niranjan Sahu and Collector, Sambalpur, Subham Saxena along with Health Care Officials were among others present during this visit of the Chief Secretary.
