Focus on Education Sector by District Administration of Malkangiri has resulted in scaling up the ranking of the backward district by the NITI Aayog, thanks to innovative initiatives taken up by District Collector Manish Agarwal.
The Aspirational District -Malkangiri has again made it with achieving Fourth Rank in Delta Ranking in the Field of Education across the Country in December 2019.
NITI Aayog has released it's Delta Ranking Report recently, which has also reportedly lauded the efforts of District Administration in achieving the goals of Aspirational District Plan, officials admit.
As per the NITI Aayog Report, Baksa District in Assam has stood first followed by Palamu District in Jharkhand second, Namsai district in Arunachal Pradesh Third, Malkangiri District in Odisha 4th and Baran District in Rajasthan 5th rank in the Education Sector.
Malkangiri’s Rank has scaled to 4th Rank in December 2019 from 51st rank in September ,2019.The District was ranked high in Education in a transparent basis on parameters like safe drinking water, electricity connection, separate boys & girls toilet's and available teacher ratio in schools .
While crediting the officials of all departments associated with the implementation of Aspirational Distrtict Plan, Collector Manish Agarwal said NITI Aayog found the efforts of the district administration “positive”.
Mr.Agarwal said “My sincere endeavours are to usher in refreshing changes in the district with a dedicated team of officials through commitment, creative interventions and innovations”.
District Collector said that the District Administration was working with a pragmatic approach, driven by passion and compassion, to make things better.
While the infrastructural Development in Anganwadi Centres(AWC) were taken up in a big way, now the focus has been shifted to Education Sector with the spending of funds received under Centrally Sponsored Scheme and State Finance Commission’s on Education.
Accordingly Aspirational Malkangiri has performed in a better way in Education Sector, officials say.
Mr.Agarwal pointed out that the District Administration is working to ensure that no child will sit on floor in schools and bench would be provided to all children's and funds for this is being mobilised at Gram Panchyat level.
The Aspirational Districts Program, through real-time monitoring and proactive course corrections, reinforces the mechanisms of cooperative and competitive federalism between the Centre and the States, down to the districts, said a senior officer of National Think Tank.
