With Gajapati getting Second Rank from NITI Aayog in providing Basic Infrastructure, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was seen very happy.
District Administration of Gajapati led by hyperactive mandarin, Anupam Saha has proved his mettle in scaling up Basic Infrastructure in one of the most backward districts of the State and listed as Aspirational District by NITI Aayog for taking up faster development.
NITI Aayog, which is monitoring real time progress of 112 Aspirational Districts has given Second Rank to Gajapati in Basic Infrastructure Criteria, said a senior official in the State Government.
Gajapati is doing well in putting up roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
During December,2019, at least 65.96 percent of habitations were provided access to all weather road under PMGSY.
Similarly cumulative number of Kilometers of all weather road work completed as percentage to total road work sanctioned to the district was also high.
According to official reports, Gajapati has 67.76 Percent of completed road works in comparison to road length sanctioned for the district.
District Administration laid priority on construction of pucca houses for the shelter less, which has gone up substantially.
During December, 2019, percentage of pucca houses constructed for households that are shelter less or having one room with kutcha wall and roof or having two rooms with kutcha wall and roof went up to as high as 75.5.
This has led to Second Rank in NITI Aayog listing, officials admit, adding, this is an ongoing process and the District continues to scale up Basic Infrastructure in the Rural Zones.
