Centre On Collector Connect

Of late Government of India is directly trying to connect with the Distrct Collectors and making efforts for direct interaction with the Chief Administrators of the Districts.

Earlier District Collectors were never appraoched directly, as they were working under the administrative control of the State Governments.
After the Prime Minister expressed his intentions to directly connect with the District Collectors, NITI Aayog has written to the State Governments in this regard.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has interacted with the District Collectors recently addressed them while asking the young officers to prepare Vision Document for their respective Districts with 10-15 objectives, which they feel that those can be  achieved by 2022.
Prime Minister Mr.Modi asked them to prepare this Resolution and immediately implement the objectives, so that these can be achieved in a stipulated period.
Now NITI Aayog CEO, Amitabh Kant has written to the State Government as to know whether the District Collectors have prepared the Resolution Documents and implmenting the same as presented to the Prime Minister.
NITI Aayog is continously eveloved an idea that as the Collectors are engaged in Development Initiaitves of the Districts, so the Best Practices adopted by them needs to be highlighted at National Level.
Mr.Kant has asked to upload these Vision Documents on the websites of the Districts and the State Government, so that those can be visited by other State and District Authorities.
NITI Aayog has decided to launch Knowledge Portal with an aim to showcase Best Practices adopted by various States and Districts.
This National Portal will be a collaborating knowledge sharing platform and placing these documents on National Portal will spur the young officials in the District to fulfill the objective that they resolved to achieve by 2022, said Mr.Kant.
Sectors like Agriculturual Reforms, Skill Development, Health, Nutritionand Child  Care, Education and Youth, Ease Of Doing Business, Use Of Technology, Aadhaar, Direct benefit Transfer (DBT) and several other issues can be taken up on Mission Mode, felt Mr.Kant.
On 9 August, Prime Minister asked Cabinet Secretari and NITI Aayog to send young IAS Officers across the States from 2011-2016 or 2012-2017 Batches to various States for interaction and have an understanding of Best Practices adopted in respective States.
And Chief Secretaries were asked to meet and interact with them so that they will have the knowledge about the Best Practices, which can be emulated in their respective States.
Sources said Cabinet Secretariat is working out details in this regard and NITI Aayog has been kept in the loop.
NITI Aayog has also asked to update the District Gazzetter regularly, so that people will be updated with latest information on the Districts.
While Centre is eager to connect directly with the District Collectors, State Governments are reluctant in this regard, said sources.
However with NITI Aayog feels that connecting directly with Collectors will ease implementation of various developmental programs on faster mode.
