No Arrest Over Jay Attack

While as many as 89 persons have been arrested in 15 incidents of egg throwing on Chief Minister, Union Ministers and other leaders in the State in the past three years, no one has been arrested in connection with the egg pelting on BJD Lok Sabha MP Baijayant’Jay’ Panda in Kendrapara district  30 May 2017.  

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik informed the House in reply to a question of BJP Member Dillip Ray. He said no egg pelting incident had occurred during 2014, while two cases were registered during 2015.
The House was informed that the Chief Minister’s motorcade was attacked on February 19, 2015 for which 18 persons have been arrested while three persons were arrested for attacking the vehicle of then Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy on November 5 that year in Nuapada district.
At least four persons were arrested for pelting eggs on the vehicle of Minister Steel & Mines, Prafulla Mallick on August 27 last year, then Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma and then Law Minister Arun Sahu motorcades were attacked in the month of January 2016 leading to arrest of 17 persons while 16 persons were held for attacking the vehicle of then Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak in Deogarh district that year, he said in his reply.

The Chief Minister said 16 persons have been arrested for attacking the vehicle of Union Minister Santosh Gangwar on June 24 last year while 13 have been taken into custody for attacking Union Minister Jual Oram’s vehicle on June 14 at Aul Bazar in Kendrapara district this year.
The Chief Minister also mentioned about attack on the vehicle of BJP women’s wing leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar and Minister Dr Damodar Rout, arrests were made in that connection.
However, the reply he admitted that no one has been arrested in connection with the egg attack on BJD MP Mr.Panda.
