Q On Congress Reject

AICC Team of Observers will analyze as to why the people in the Grassroots are rejecting Congress and there will be detailed discussions in this regard.

Senior Congress Lawmaker Naba Kishore Das has said this in view of the visit of AICC Team to study the situation and give a Detailed Report to AICC President.
Mr.Das, who was all along supporting Niranjan Patnaik candidature as OPCC Chief, has said that he does not believe in a change of PCC Leadership.
He said that move should be there to strengthen Congress structure at the Grassroot level. This will help the Party in long run.
However the Lawmakers of Congress Party today held a closed-door meeting at the Official Residence of Leader of Opposition (LoP), Narasingha Mishra here.
Sources said that they have discussed the strategy on how to put forth the demand for change of leadership in PCC before the Team of Observers of All India Congress Committee (AICC) who arrived in the State capital today.
The closed-door meet holds significance in view of the fact that the report which the AICC team would submit to the Congress President would play a key role in taking a decision on the issue of leadership change.
As per the schedule, the AICC team’s three-day Odisha tour began from today and they will interact with both present MLAs, former MLAs, senior party leaders, DCC Presidents, heads of different frontal organizations of the party.
This move is to feel their pulse and gauge their mood and submit Report to the Congress High Command.
Insiders revealed that two separate posh hotels here have been booked for the stay and hospitality of the three AICC Observers.
While one has been said to have been booked by the incumbent PCC President Prasad Harichandan’s camp, another has been booked by the MLAs giving further credence to the ongoing tug of war within the two main factions here.
Party insiders also revealed that, the PCC has issued a whip for single meeting with the Observers which has raised the hackles of some of the party MLAs as six of them are also the Presidents of District Congress Committee (DCC) of their respective districts.
While August 12 has been fixed for the DCC Presidents, August 13 has been fixed for the MLAs.
Congress Chief Whip in Odisha Legislative Assembly Tara Prasad Bahinipati said, “We welcome the Observers. Our Legislature Party will welcome them together. We still stick to our same demand. We have decided to lobby for Niranjan Babu (former PCC Chief) as the PCC president once again. We have been demanding the reshuffling of the PCC set-up here, today too we stick to the guns. On the other hand, efforts are on since long to create split in us and muffle our united efforts as well as voice on this stand.”
Congress MLA Prakash Behera said, “Meeting twice in the capacity of DCC President and as an MLA is not possible. I had been asked, but opted for meeting once along with the MLAs. That day discussions on both district matters and State political situation will also be discussed. Whatever our demand is, we’ve already discussed it with the party high command, with Rahul Gandhi. Not only our demand will be put forth, but also discussions will be held on the political situation in the State now as well as our party organization.”
