Connect Aadhar For MDM

With the Centre urging all the State Governments to link Aadhar with Mid Day Meal (MDM), the State Government has directed officials concerned to fill in the Aadhaar number of students studying in elementary and secondary schools in the database by July 31.

Aadhar Connect has been made mandatory to avail benefits under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan(RMSA) and MDM Schemes.
Department of School and Mass Education has issued instructions to the District Education Officers (DEOs), District Project Coordinators (RTE-SSA) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) to update school and class wise student data in Student Database Management Information System (SDMIS) database for 2017-18, while tagging Aadhaar number of each student, as per the mandate of the Union Government.
“The School Headmasters and Teachers shall collect the copies of the Aadhaar cards of each student in respective schools and record the UID numbers against the students in school register by July 15.
In case of non-availability of Aadhaar card with any student, the Aadhaar enrolment receipt may also be collected if the Aadhaar enrolment is done,” School and Mass Education Secretary Ranjana Chopra has issued directions.
The list of students which have not been covered under Aadhaar enrolment may be prepared and reported to concerned BEOs for facilitating them to get enrolled for Aadhaar immediately.

Besides, the privately managed Educational Institutions will have to go for Aadhar Connect for the students.

However, even if the student is not having Aadhar Card, she/he will not be debarred from MDM, said official sources in DoSME.

In fact the State Government has taken a conscious decision on Aadhar Card Connect front as lot of people are yet to have Aadhar, they will not be debarred from the facilities offerd by the state even if they have no Aadhar Card.
