Hemant Sharma has added another plume to his fledging cap.
Efforts of Mr.Sharma, Secretary Energy and CMD OPTCL & GRIDCO have been appreciated by Union Government, said official sources.
Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal appreciated the Department of Energy (DoE) for implementing the ‘Urja Mitra’ initiative in Odisha which is the first of its kind among the other states in the Country.
Mr.Goyal congratulated the State through a Special Appreciation Letter to the Secretary Energy Mr. Sharma for his special efforts in facilitating the successful implementation of ‘Urja Mitra’ and taking a lead in the country for introducing the same first in the country.
With commendable efforts put up by Mr.Sharma and his team of four Distribution companies (DISCOM)s in Odisha, ‘Urja Mitra’ is being introduced in Odisha for enabling the consumers getting alert of the power outage system of their locality.
‘Urja Mitra’ is an android based Application developed by REC under the guidance of Union Ministry of Power under its Digital India initiative.
A consumer needs to register with his consumer number which will enable him in getting the scheduled and the ongoing power outage information through SMS/E-Mail and push notifications.
Power Consumers can also inform about power outage in their area through this mobile app.
Mr.Sharma being also the CMD of OPTCL, a transmission utility of Odisha earlier has received the Golden Shield Award from Union Ministry of Power twice for highest transmission system availability.
