Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu today stressed the need for adopting digital payments on a large scale.
Inaugurating the Digi Dhan Mela at Bhubaneswar Railway Station here, Mr.Prabhu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to promote a cashless society for the benefit of common man.

The concept of 'Digi Dhan Mela' is the brainchild of Niti Aayog to promote digital or cashless economy through the use of digital mode of transactions across the country.
In the event, as many as 23 banks, BSNL, India Post, Common Service Centre, UIDAI, Oil marketing Companies, Balmer Lawrie, Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS, Government of Odisha), and private e-wallet operators put up stalls.
During the day-long exhibition and sensitization of digital payment systems and advantages, officials briefed about the benefits of Digital Payments.
General Manager, East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar said a video was played at the event site to sensitize on the need and advantages of digitization.
The Government of India initiatives for the same was illustrated. The invited celebrities spoke on their experience and the need to popularize Digital Payments to build a stronger India.
During their visits citizens also carried out cashless transaction in digital mode at various stalls. Actors Sabyasachi Mishra and Archita Sahu were among those who participated in the Mela.
