State Remembers Raja

Raja Bahadur Ramachandra Mardaraj, the erstwhile King of Khalikote, was a great personality who discharged his duty successfully both during monarchy and republic and earned public love and respect, said Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Mr.Patnaik was speaking at the 121st state level birth anniversary celebration program, jointly organized by the State Information & Public Relations Department and Pujyapuja Sahitya Sansad, at Jaydev Bhavan here on 13 January.
Chief Minister said that the former Khalikote Ruler played an important role in the formation of Orissa as a separate province.
He also made equal and significant contribution in the development of Odisha in general and Ganjam in particular.

People will remember him forever as a self-respecting Odia and a dedicated public servant, Mr.Patnaik added.
Raja Bahadur’s style of governance, ideology, commitment and dedication for Odisha shall remain an inspiration for all Odias, the Chief Minister said while paying tributes to the former ruler of Khalikote.

Speaking on the occasion, Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro highlighted the contribution of the royal family in formation of Orissa as a separate province.

He described the Raja Bahadur Ramachandra Mardaraj as a “Vikash Purush”, who brought significant development.

Forest & Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha, in his speech, said that Raja Bahadur’s contribution to Odisha’s literature, culture, education and development was ‘matchless’.

Information & Public Relations Minister Raghunandan Das hoped that the foresightedness and patriotism of Raja Bahudur would be an inspiration for our future generation.

In his welcome address, Information & Public Relations Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh threw light on various contributions of the then Khalikote King for the society.
