Cyber Fraudsters Arrested

 Additional Director General of Police(ADGP) Crime Branch Santosh Upadhyay said the Odisha Police has arrested three cyber fraudsters from Patna in Bihar for duping a man from Dhenkanal  of over Rs.40 lakh on the pretext of arranging dealership of Reliance Petrol.

Mr.Upadhyay said the accused trio, identified as Akash Kumar (21) of Gangapur in Nalanda district, Subham Priyadarshi (19) of Sijua in Gaya district, and Kousheldra Kumar alias Lallu (23) of Chakwai Warisaliganj in Nawda district, were arrested from Hawai Adda Police station area of Patna on 29 November.

At least 16 mobile phones of different makes containing SIM, SIM cards of different mobile service providers, laptop, pen drive, dongle, cash amounting to over Rs. 8 lakh, cheque books, 47 ATM/Debit cards of different banks, notebook, driving license, Aadhaar Card, PAN card and several other incriminating documents have also been seized from their possession.
ADG said that Om Prakash Mishra (37) of Bhuban on January 3 had lodged a complaint alleging that three cyber fraudsters duped him of Rs 40, 45,000 by creating a fake website and tempting him to deposit money towards NOC application, licence, insurance fees, security deposit etc in different fraud bank accounts for availing the dealership of Reliance petrol pump.

Crime Branch registered a case under sections 419/420/34 of the IPC read with section 66-D of IT Act 2000 at the Cyber Crime Police Station and Inspector Bibhu Ranjan Sundaray was entrusted with the investigation of the case.

Following the arrest, the accused persons were produced before the Court of JMFC, Patna for transit remand for production before the Court of JMFC at Bhuban by 2 December, said ADGP Mr.Upadhyay adding that the accused were being forwarded to the Court of JMFC at Bhuban.

Crime Branch is taking all out efforts to nab cyber fraudsters, who are duping common men, said he.
