Dialysis Unit Resumes Service

Patients requiring emergency dialysis service are happy with the determined Health Care Team, who have been able to resume services in the Dialysis Unit of the District Head Quarters (DHQ) Hospital of Puri

While Super Storm-FANI damaged critical Health Care infrastructure in the District Headquarters Hospital of Puri, the Dialysis Unit was completely left damaged on 3 May, when FANI made a landfall in the Coastal Town.

As the Department of Health and Family Welfare is on Mission Mode to restore Health Care Services in the Super Storm hit zones, the Health Care Team has been made it possible to restore the Dialysis Unit in DHQ Puri and services have already resumed providing solace to the critical patients.

Thanks to the leadership provided by Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Pramod Kumar Meherda and critical support extended by Special Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Shalini Pandit, the Seven Bedded Dialysis Unit has been made operational since 13 May.

Dr.Meherda, Secretary Health also visited DHQ Hospital of Puri on 13 May and inspected Dialysis Unit along with NHM Mission Director, Ms.Pandit.

On 13 May at least 14 patients were provided dialysis care and on 14 May 21 patients have undergone dialysis.

This Dialysis facility would help poor and needy coming from rural areas of the district.

In fact a large number of patients come with cases like acute renal or kidney failure.

With rise in diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure, the number of people needing dialysis care is on rise and now with resumption of Dialysis Services in DHQ Hospital, poor people are happy.
